Geraldine Sayward Endowed Scholarship
This endowment was established with the purpose of providing scholarships to students in the College of Education at Middle Tennessee State University. This scholarship will be awarded to a student preparing for a career in teaching who has also shown excellence in academics, and who best exemplifies the passion for teaching and living as exemplified by the life and career of Geraldine Sayward.
To be considered for the Geraldine Sayward Endowed Scholarship, applicants must have be majoring or minoring in Education, have earned at least 90 credit hours with a cumulative GPA of 3.50, and be scheduled to student-teach in the coming academic year. Applicants will need to submit a personal statement (no more than 750 words) explaining how her/his life reflects the values modeled by Geraldine Sayward and how these values will become a part of their professional life as an educator. Applicants will also need to submit a letter of recommendation from College of Education professor or from a Kindergarten through 12th grade teacher with whom they have worked.
Each scholarship is for one academic year. Prior recipients are not disqualified from consideration for this scholarship.
The recipients shall be selected by the College of Education Scholarship Committee with input from a representative of the Sayward family.
